Three Killed, Four Injured in Beverly Crest Shooting

On Saturday morning, at least three people were killed and four others were wounded in a shooting in the Beverly Crest neighborhood of Los Angeles.[0] The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene at 2:55 a.m. on the 2700 block of Ellison Drive off of Oak Pass Road.[1] It was reported that multiple 911 calls reported the shooting, and when officers arrived at the scene, they found multiple people suffering from gunshot wounds.[2] At the scene, three of those shot were declared dead.[3]

Two of the gunshot wound survivors drove themselves to a medical center, and then were taken to a trauma care hospital. The other two survivors were taken directly to a trauma care hospital by paramedics at the scene.[4] Police report that out of the four gunshot wound victims, two are in critical condition and the other two are stable.[5] The information regarding the ages and genders of the deceased has not yet been made public.[5] The coroner will make known that information when the appropriate time comes.[5] Homicide detectives are still investigating by interviewing neighbors and looking for home surveillance video.[6]

Confirmation from Sgt. Frank Preciado of the Los Angeles Police Department revealed that out of the seven people who were shot, four were located outside.[7] A vehicle contained three people who were killed.[8] He also said he did not have information on what led up to the shooting, or if it occurred at a residence.[9]

This shooting in Beverly Crest comes exactly a week after 11 people were killed during a mass shooting at a dance studio in Monterey Park and three days after a gunman killed seven people at two farms around Half Moon Bay.[4] The details of the shooting are still unknown, but there have been reports of fatal shootings occurring during house parties at properties in that area in the past.[2] Confirmation has been made by the Los Angeles Police Department that the site of the shootings was a “short term rental.”[1]

California has experienced at least six mass shootings this month.[4] With the recent increase in mass shootings, people are beginning to question if these tragedies can be prevented.[8]
