Texas Attorney General Leads Coalition in Injunction Against Biden’s DHS “Parole” Program

The Republican states of Texas, led by Attorney General Ken Paxton, have filed a motion for a preliminary injunction in a lawsuit against the Biden Administration’s Department of Homeland Security for its “parole” program that allows hundreds of thousands of additional illegal aliens to enter the United States.[0] The motion, filed by America First Legal (AFL) in partnership with the twenty other states, seeks to immediately halt the program until the case is resolved.[1]

The program, first introduced for Venezuelans in October 2022 and then expanded in January, allows migrants to obtain work permits and a two-year authorization to live in the country, and is combined with an extension of Title 42 expulsions.[2] The states argue that the program violates congressional restrictions on parole, which limits its use to a “case-by-case basis for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit.”[2]

In essence, the Biden Administration is recruiting aliens who otherwise have no right to enter the United States to do so under the guise of preventing them from crossing the southern land border illegally.[0] America First Legal continues to oppose the Biden Administration’s efforts to undermine American sovereignty. Stephen Miller of America First Legal stated: “Biden’s plan to mass import unauthorized aliens from their home countries directly to the United States without any legal basis for doing so is nothing more than a brazen attempt to accelerate stratospheric migration levels while, at the same time, concealing the sheer volume of cross border flows.
