Tragic Stalking Case Leaves Three Dead in Redmond, Washington

Redmond,[0] – Three people are dead after a suspected stalker broke into a Redmond, Washington home and killed a podcaster and her husband, police said.[1] The woman's mother managed to survive the attack, got away and contacted 911.[2]

The victims were identified as 33-year-old podcaster Zohreh Sadeghi and her husband Mohammed Naseri, 35.[3] The suspect is Ramin Khodakaramrezaei, a 38-year-old trucker.[4]

According to court documents, Khodakaramrezaei had been in contact with Sadeghi for more than a year before the stalking escalated in November of 2022 when she told him to stop communicating with her.[2] He then started bombarding the victim with calls, messages, flowers, gifts, and even showed up at the couple’s home in person.[2]

Police said the suspect broke into the home through the mother's bedroom window and had an altercation with her before she was able to escape to a neighbor's house and call 911.[5] Officers found the husband outside the house with a gunshot wound to the chest, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.[5] When the police entered the residence, they discovered Khodakaramrezaei and his spouse lying dead in the master bedroom. It is believed that the suspect had been harassing the woman prior to the incident.[5] The suspect had died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.[5]

Redmond Police Chief Darrell Lowe said in a statement, “Our hearts go out to the victim’s family and the Redmond community following this horrific tragedy. This is an incredibly sad situation and the worst possible outcome of a stalking case. We will continue investigating what led to this tragic loss.”[6]

Lowe said that Sadeghi reported more than 100 “contacts” from the stalker in a single day, and that he had sent gifts to her and appeared in person at her home. He also warned that restraining orders are not enough to protect a person from a determined stalker.[0]

Sadeghi was a software engineer who previously worked at Promontory MortgagePath and attended the University of Washington Tacoma’s graduate and Ph.D. programs, according to her LinkedIn page.[7] In Iran, she worked both as a researcher and a web developer.[7] According to his LinkedIn page, Naseri joined Amazon as a software engineer in January 2022.[8]
