Tragic Discovery of 42-Year-Old Father of Five in Baton Rouge

The body of Nathan Millard, 42, was found on Monday in the 2900 block of Scenic Highway in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, police told The Advocate newspaper.[0] Millard, a married father of five from Covington, Georgia, was last seen at around 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 23 in downtown Baton Rouge, according to the city’s police department.[1] He was attending a Louisiana State University basketball game with a client, and went to the nearby Happy's Irish Pub afterwards.[2] Sources told local ABC affiliate WBRZ that staff at the pub cut him off because he had too much to drink.[3] Millard is described as five feet nine inches tall and weighing 180 pounds, wearing a green baseball cap, black shirt, and blue jeans.[4]

Millard's wife, Amber, said that they had Facetimed while he was at the game.[5] At 9 a.m. the day after Millard was last seen, the client contacted the Baton Rouge Police to report him missing, as he had missed an 8 a.m. meeting at the job site and the hotel staff had done a welfare check on him and found that his room did not appear to have been slept in, according to Amber Millard.[0] Police found Millard’s phone four blocks from the hotel and said his debit card had been used.[6] It was reported by someone close to the family that police had obtained video of an individual using Millard's debit card, which had been charged multiple times subsequent to his vanishing.[7]

Millard's body was found wrapped in plastic and rolled in a carpet. The cause of death is yet to be determined, pending the results of the autopsy.[3] If you know anything about Millard's location, please call the Baton Rouge Missing Persons Division at 225-389-3853.[8]

Amber Millard said she is heartbroken, calling it her “worst nightmare”.[9] “My mind has been going nonstop, but I can't let my mind torture me, and I'm just turning it over to God and prayer, prayer, prayer, staying positive,” she said.[10] “He’s a loved man, a great man and we need him, we want him home.”[11]

Millard is survived by two teenaged sons, two stepsons, and a 7-year-old daughter with his wife.[5]
