House Oversight Investigates Hunter Biden’s Link to Former Serbian Foreign Minister, CEFC
A new report from the Washington Free Beacon has revealed that Hunter Biden enlisted then-Vice President Joe Biden's national security adviser, Colin Kahl, in a scheme to assist a Serbian business partner in becoming secretary-general of the United Nations. The House Oversight Committee is now probing into the Biden family's foreign business dealings and looking into links between Hunter Biden and the former Serbian foreign affairs minister, Vuk Jeremic.
Emails from Hunter Biden's abandoned laptop show that in July 2016, Hunter arranged a meeting for Jeremic and Kahl, who is now the undersecretary of defense for policy at the Pentagon. Jeremic was at the time looking for American support in an upcoming vote to become secretary-general of the U.N. Jeremic recounted that Kahl “promised” to find out more about the U.N. election.[0]
Jeremic's ties to Hunter Biden could shed light on the troubled presidential son’s foreign business dealings. On the first of December, 2015, Jeremic contacted both Biden and his colleague, Eric Schwerin, to arrange a meeting with Ye Jianming, who was the chairman of CEFC China Energy, a Chinese energy conglomerate with alleged connections to Chinese intelligence.[0]
European regulators have closely examined Jeremic's aspirations to the U.N. and his “questionable connections” to CEFC.[1] According to a 2020 report from the Royal United Services Institute, a British think tank, there appears to be a pattern of political influence from Jeremic concerning CEFC, with the intention of providing support to China's key political and economic objectives.[0] The think tank reported that Jeremic facilitated CEFC to “create connections within the UN structure” and accomplished deals on their behalf “in return for political fame through meetings with Xi Jinping.”[0]
The Republican investigation could reveal Biden's attempts to capitalize on his political affiliations for financial gain.[1] An aide to Rep. James Comer (R., Ky.), who is leading the probe, commented, “Vuk Jeremic has been connected to Hunter Biden’s business dealings and likely holds key information.” The aide added that the investigation could provide insight into “Hunter Biden's web of foreign business dealings.
